Winter Retreat

The Winter Retreat is a very unique and rare opportunity to live off-grid in Northern Canada.  This retreat is certainly not for the faint of heart and is only offered to those who have stayed at the ashram for an extended period of time (at least a month) or have some background in outdoor survival, rustic living or other such related topics.

Living 6 km from the nearest homosapiens, this retreat allows those involved to experience deep silence and isolation.  Many choose to do it alone, with a friend or a loved one; often going into silence and using the time to work on writing, music or art projects.  There is also ample time to deepen any spiritual practice that the individuals involved may already have.  There is also an extensive library for studying.

Typical days involve waking up to snow-covered mountains and old growth forests, hiking around in the snow, hauling water, sitting and reading by the wood stove, cooking on the wood stove, hiking to our nearby cave, waterfall, cliffs or river, having a hot bath in the wood warmed outdoor bathtub and appreciating the big starry skies, watching the northern lights and living in the silent stillness of the surrounding nature.

The details and duration of the Winter Karma Yogi Retreat change each year and we should be contacted for details on future retreats.
