COVID- 19 RESPONSE
Here at Anuttara Ashram, we have been following the news updates in British Columbia and globally, and we have made the challenging, yet essential decision to temporarily close the Ashram to the public. Given the dynamic and uncertain nature of this situation, we will be watching closely to any changes, and will be continuously reassessing the situation, and will confirm as soon as possible when we will re-open for our normal ashram activity and retreat programs.
OPEN TO VOLUTEERS
With everything changing and uncertain under the pandemic, we've unfortunately had to make some unexpected changes to our Seva Program this summer.
We live within the Nisag'a Nation and wish to respect the closure and restrictions they have placed around their community. At this point, we can only host Canadian volunteers who have already been self-isolating. While you are travelling you must wear a mask and take every precaution against COVID-19. We have been an isolated community since February and we trust you to practice extreme caution while you travel here.
This season for us is not unfolding the way we anticipated. We have taken all of our programs online and remain closed to the public. Our community is much, much smaller than we anticipated so our needs for volunteers have changed. Typically we have a team of committed managers, cooks, and teachers from around the world. At this time, almost all of our managers and some of our teachers are still out of the country/in quarantine.
This means that the general layout of our Seva program has needed to undergo some serious changes. We originally asked for you to help with cooking, cleaning, washing dishes and gardening. As of now, we need folks to help with building projects ie. cobbing, carpentry, digging, wood-splitting and stacking. Nearly all of this work will be outside.

We're all finally using the internet the way we're meant to. We're connecting, learning, reaching out and supporting each other. We're creating community across time zones and cultures. We're learning to express love through voice messages and video chats. We're learning how connected we all really are.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We are so excited to have this opportunity to bring the Anuttara Community online. We've been overwhelmed by all the love and support we've received from you all, and we hope to be able to bring you as many resources for you and your practice from the comfort of your home.
